Robert DeLaet
Robert is an award-winning communications professional who pairs research-informed strategies with innovative tactics to strengthen organizational brand and reputation. With a well-rounded skill set, he specializes in leading strategic communications planning, internal communications, media relations, web and social media strategies, event planning and multimedia production.

With a passion for organizations that improve lives, Robert is currently working as a Communications Consultant at London Health Sciences Centre. Previous to joining the IABC London Executive Committee, Robert served for two years as the chapter’s Awards Director.

Cassie Caranci
Vice President

Cassandra Caranci
Cassandra is a driven communications professional, who brings an enthusiastic and strategic perspective to her work. With both agency and corporate experience, Cassandra can adapt quickly and is eager to bring impactful stories and complex concepts to life.

Cassandra is a graduate of Western University. From Monday to Friday, she works at Canada Life as an Associate Manager, Communications, on their Corporate Communications and Public Affairs team.

Before joining IABC London’s Executive Committee, Cassandra served as Communications Director for two years, where she reviewed and implemented a proactive communications approach and request process.

Megan Zinn

Megan Zinn
Megan is a seasoned communications and fundraising professional. She has held a variety of roles in nonprofit and public sector organizations. She currently works as Corporate Communication Officer at Fanshawe College.

Megan is a graduate of Athabasca University and Fanshawe College, and she held the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation from 2014 to 2020. She has served on a number of boards of directors, including two terms as President of the London and Region Fundraising Professionals (LRFP). In addition to her role with IABC London, Megan served as Director, Finance for IABC Canada East Region during the 2019/20 year.

Alicia Baerstoen
Director, Communications

Alicia Baertsoen
Alicia is a branding enthusiast, seasoned communicator and Senior Strategist at Durrell Communications. Experienced in higher education and agency sectors, she enjoys fast-paced work and new challenges, and is passionate about creatively telling the impactful stories behind a brand. Eager to give back to the community and drive industry growth and development, she thrives on connecting with fellow communicators and continuing to pursue new heights through professional development. Her ideal day off would include a new place to explore, preferably outdoors, joined by family and friends, with an IPA thrown in.

Jaye Bowers
Director, Professional Development

Jaye Bowers
Jaye proudly holds a Bachelor of Professional Arts degree in Communications from Athabasca University, and is also a graduate of the Business Marketing program at Fanshawe College. With many years’ experience in internal communications as well as event marketing, project management, and team leadership in the market research industry, he is a passionate believer in the crucial role that communication plays in both building strong teams, and achieving personal and organizational success.

Roxanne Beaubien
Roxanne is an award-winning communications professional with more than two decades of experience in the policing, healthcare and non-profit sectors and extensive expertise in public relations, media relations, crisis communications and internal communications.

She holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from Western University, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Communications Studies from the University of Calgary and an honours diploma in Marketing from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton.

She has been a member of IABC for several years and has previously served two years on the IABC London Board as Celebrations Director and President Elect. She has won a Gold Quill, a Silver Leaf and a Virtuoso award for internal communications.

Sonia Hota
Sonia is currently Communications Assistant at St. Joseph Health Care London. She brings to the Board her many years of corporate communications, research and client relations experience. In addition to her passion for communications, Sonia is highly invested in health and wellness and is a certified Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer.

Sonia has previously volunteered with the IABC London Board as Digital Content Liaison, Student Membership Liaison and Director, Mentorship. This is her fifth year being part of the IABC London team.

Julie Franchuk
Julie is a seasoned communications professional with over a decade’s experience in the healthcare sector. Having been born and raised in Lambton County, Julie has a passion for her community and local healthcare. She is currently working as Communications Business Partner with Bluewater Health’s award-winning Communications and Public Affairs team.

Julie holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts from the University of Guelph Humber’s Creative Advertising Degree Program. She spent a few years working in advertising/marketing agencies in Toronto and Sarnia before beginning her career in the healthcare industry. As a branding and strategic communications advocate, Julie’s advertising/marketing background is a great fit for the high-stakes, fast-paced world of healthcare.

Julie believes her extensive experience in internal/external communications, stakeholder and media relations, project management, and event planning will bring a unique skillset to IABC London and its’ Award Programming.


Trevor DeHaan
Trevor is a proud communicator, writer, and speaker. Currently working as a Public Relations Specialist at GoodLife Fitness, Trevor combines his passion for branding with strong communications skills to elevate the stories he gets to tell every day. Trevor’s experience in project management and entertainment journalism gives him a unique perspective when approaching his communications goals. He loves working with a team to solve complex problems with creative solutions, and is never one to shy away from a new challenge.

Always ready to speak up for what he believes in, Trevor is passionate about improving workplace culture and growing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. When he’s not working, Trevor can usually be found with a glass of wine watching movies or playing video games with his cat.

Leo Aul
Leo is a Marketing Coordinator at Global Warranty; He works to deliver communications strategies to build relationships with Drivers and Dealerships across the country. He graduated from King’s University College with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and a post-graduate Diploma in Public Relations at Western University.

He has volunteered with the IABC London Board as Partnerships Liaison previously. Recently, Leo has been on the Board as IABC London Board Secretary to provide effective organization and structure needed for our chapter to make an impact for our membership. His passion for the communications industry and building connections with fellow professionals inspired his decision to offer his unique skillset in the role of Director of Partnerships & Board Secretary for the 2021/2022 Board year.

Victoria Almeida
Victoria is a proud graduate of King’s University College and is currently pursuing a diploma in Public Relations at Western University. She has worked in various communications roles
spanning a variety of industries throughout her undergraduate career and is excited to continue
learning and growing in the communications field.

Irma Farrukh
Irma graduated with a BA from Western University and is also currently pursuing a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Relations at Western University. She holds three years of experience in content creation, project management and leadership. Irma’s passion in attaining a career in PR stems from being in a role that is both challenging and innovative.

Maria Gondola
Maria is a young communications professional and a proud Fanshawe Alumni.
Maria has a diploma in Broadcasting Television and a post-graduate certificate in Public
Relations – Corporate Communications. Having previously worked as a Communications
Assistant at the International office, Reputation and Brand Management, and Alumni Relations
departments at Fanshawe College. Maria’s passion and drive for communications and social
media is the main reason she volunteers as a Digital Content Liason for IABC London.

Emily Beckenhaur
Emily is currently completing a graduate certificate in Public Relations at Fanshawe College. She is an alumni of Wilfrid Laurier University with a degree in Social Work. In addition to her social work endeavours, she develops her communications skills through professional development courses, volunteering, and extensive work abroad. She is excited to be part of IABC London and looks forward to enhancing her skills that will help her become an effective communications professional.

Alana La Grave
Alana is a two-time graduate of Western University, most recently with a master’s degree in Library and Information Science and previously with a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature, with a certificate in Publishing from Ryerson University in between. With experience in event planning, marketing, and communications in the publishing industry, she is excited to be volunteering with IABC and broadening her communication skill sets.

Cynthia is a Communications Coordinator at Western University. She graduated from Western University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a post-graduate diploma in Public Relations. This is her second year volunteering as the Job Board Liaison with previous experience volunteering on the chapter’s award committee.

Dayna Meadows
Dayna has a degree in English from Western University and a Master of Education from D’Youville College. She is currently a part-time Professor at Fanshawe College teaching Human Resources and Organizational Behaviour. Dayna is pursuing her post-graduate certificate in Public Relations-Corporate Communications at Fanshawe.  

With a background in HR and teaching, Dayna is excited to expand her career experience in the field of Public Relations-Communications. Her mission is to live life with passion, determination, and integrity while striving to learn something new every day. She looks forward to representing Fanshawe as the IABC Student Liaison this year.

Digital Content Liaison

Zarna Mistri
Zarna is currently studying Public Relations – Corporate Communications graduate certificate program at Fanshawe College. She has more than five years of experience running her Event Management and Professional Anchoring/Hosting business in India.

Her passion for social media content design and digital marketing is growing every day. Using her experience in Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and an eye for creativity, she is very much excited about the opportunity of being a Digital Content Liaison for IABC London.

Ashley Allen
Ashley is in her first year with IABC London and recently graduated from the graphic design program at Fanshawe College with honours. During her final year, she received three awards for her work and dedication, one of which was from IABC London.

As a designer, she loves the process of using her creativity to uniquely illustrate a concept, idea, or message. She is passionate about graphic design and communications and believes it is the key to connecting people worldwide. Ashley is thrilled to work with such a strong group of communicators and to have this valuable opportunity to broaden her skills in graphic design and communications.

Emilee Farquhar
Emilee has a Bachelor Of Arts from the University of Guelph studying the Humanities. She is currently completing her post-graduate diploma from Western University.

In addition to work, Emilee spends her time volunteering for non-profit organizations to help develop her communication and leadership skills. This is her first year volunteering with IABC London and she is super eager to be a part of the team. Her passion and drive within the communications field makes her excited for this next step in her career.

Rachel Ganzewinkel
Rachel graduated from King’s University College at Western University with an Honours Degree in English Language and Literature with a Minor in Creative Writing before completing a Graduate Certificate at Fanshawe College in Public Relations and Corporate Communications. Beginning her communications career in the non-profit sector before her current role as Communications Associate at London Health Sciences Centre, Rachel has a passion for community involvement. She believes that storytelling is a bridge between worlds, connecting people through the sharing of experiences and connecting organizations with the communities they serve.

Rachel’s community volunteer roles assist not only in strengthening her understanding of various lived experiences of those in the London area, but helps grow her communication and storytelling abilities. Having used her writing skills to raise money for local organizations, Rachel’s passion for communications extends beyond her professional world, and into her creative and personal worlds, and is grateful for the opportunity to be able to volunteer and assist with IABC’s communications in her editing role.
