Mentorship

Connect with professionals to advance your career goals.

Our mentorship program is designed to engage communications professionals at all career levels.

Both mentors and mentees will benefit from connecting with professionals with different skill sets, experiences, interests, all while investing in their own career development.

Please note, mentees must be professional or transitional members of IABC in good standing. Current students are not eligible for mentorship.

“Participating in the IABC London mentorship program has been a great learning opportunity for me as I was able to connect with an expert in the communications field. My mentor advised me on my current work and suggested areas for future career development. We connected right away as we shared with each other our experiences about the joys and challenges of working in communications. She helped me to identify emerging trends and develop strategic priorities that improved my performance and the quality of my work.”

Mentor information

Qualities of a good mentor

  • Knowledgeable and compassionate, with great coaching/teaching skills

  • Committed to helping mentees find success and fulfillment in the profession

  • Successful in, and an advocate for, the profession

  • Invested in empowering the mentee to develop their own strengths, beliefs and personal attributes

  • Open and honest, willing to share successes as well as failures

“Serving as a mentor helped increase my own confidence in my own career development and that the professional development I had worked on was of value as well. It really was reassuring to know that someone else was able to benefit from the mentoring and development work that I had received along the way, and made me feel more assured as an intermediate communications professional that I had the knowledge and skills expected of that level of career. It’s motivating to pay it forward and I gained a great deal of satisfaction from sharing and contributing to my mentee’s growth as he launches a bright future for his career.”

Andrew Kaszowski (mentor - 2021)
