London communicators recognized nationally for award-winning work

Last month the winners of the prestigious 2014 Silver Leaf Awards were announced, and included two winning entries from London, Ontario. The national awards recognize outstanding work in communication management, and were announced by the Canadian Western and Eastern Regions of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).Fred DeVries, Diana Cunningham and Scott Woods from Western University collectively won the Award of Merit in the ‘Publications’ category. Their entry was titled, Impact Western: Donor Publication at Western University. Fred DeVries also won an Award of Excellence in the ‘Writing’ category, for his entry titled, Impact Western: Donor Communications for Western University.“We are proud of the high quality of work that communicators in London are producing, and are extremely pleased they have been recognized on this national stage,” says Mary-Ellen Willard, Communications Director at IABC London. “As technology continue to evolve, the role of strategic communications is more important than ever. These awards are a testament to the work we do in supporting local communications practitioners and developing our profession.”More than 140 entries were received from across Canada in a variety of categories including brand communications, internal communications, writing, and issues management. Forty entries were honoured with a Silver LeafCanada’s national Silver Leaf Awards program is managed jointly by the Canada East and Canada West Regions of IABC. Canadian members represent approximately 32% of IABC’s global membership.
