Jo Ann Johnston, ABC
Jo Ann is an award-winning, IABC Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) with extensive experience in social and traditional media, business writing and issues management. She’s provided strategic counsel and media relations support in the oil and gas, agricultural and higher education industries. Currently, she works strengthening community relations with the communications and public affairs team at Western University.
Anthea Rowe, CMP
Anthea is an award-winning communications professional with experience in fundraising communications, research communications, corporate branding, and digital marketing. As founder of her own marketing communications firm, she helps clients boost their brands and grow their business.
Matt was born and raised in the small community of Paynes Mills, Ontario (located near St. Thomas).While completing a Psychology BA, he called the University of Waterloo home in and returned to the London area to complete a Corporate Communications Certificate at Fanshawe College.
Through a varied career, Fred has worn many hats – from an ESL instructor in China to a university instructor in professional writing, from a freelance consultant (aka writer for hire) to a strategic communications specialist for a Canadian icon (Rick Hansen, the Man In Motion).
Laura is a graduate of Western University as well as Fanshawe College’s postgraduate certificate program for Corporate Communications and Public Relations.
Adina believes life is about aiming high and making an impact. A talented communications professional, with an extensive background in traditional and social media, Adina is at present the Communications Coordinator of the London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® – one of the fifteen big real estate boards in Canada.
Anna is a graduate of Western University and holds a postgraduate certificate in Corporate Communications and Public Relations from Fanshawe College.
Andrew Kaszowski is an award-winning communication and engagement specialist whose work has been recognized by the International Association of Business Communicators and Health Care Public Relations Association, including a “Best of the Best” award.
Jen has sung for the Pope, taught English in South Korea, and was this close to becoming a veterinarian. Instead, she relegated animal-rescue to hobby status and started her communications career at Lashbrook Marketing & Public Relations.
Kris Dundas, ABC, CMP, is a leader in strategic communications, brand marketing, publications and public relations for the higher education sector. She has worked at Western University for the past 16 years and currently coordinates marketing, branding, web and social media to support international student recruitment, exchange and study abroad programs, international student services and international relations.
Diana Cunningham is excited to be joining the Board this year as Director, Virtuoso, Awards. Diana is an experienced marketing communications professional with experience in investor relations, corporate communications, advertising and branding.
After a busy and exciting year as Director of Virtuoso Awards and Celebration, Tori is continuing on the board as Director, Virtuoso Celebration.
Nathan is a recent graduate of Fanshawe’s Corporate Communications and Public Relations program, where he began an obsession with figuring out the customer journey and connecting the dots and the data between marketing, sales and service. Having started his current path at the University of Windsor, Nathan was originally raised on a diet provided by two of his favourite people named John, Donne and Milton.
Kim Edwards Phair
Kim has worked in the marketing and communications industry for close to 15 years. After college, she worked at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario in Toronto as a Regional Visual Merchandiser. Following the LCBO, Kim worked as an Account Manager at EK3 Technologies and Red Rhino Marketing; and as a Communications Coordinator at Addiction Services of Thames Valley.
Kattie is a fresh graduate from Western University with an Honors Specialization in English Language and Literature and a Minor in geography. As a public relations candidate at Continuing Studies Western, Kattie has developed a passion for communications and the desire to pursue her communications career in the corporate sector.
Adam graduated from Wilfred Laurier and Western University with degrees in Philosophy and Psychology. His passion for learning and giving back to the community through volunteer opportunities has led him to obtain a post graduate diploma in Public Relations from Western Continuing Studies. He looks forward to sharing his enthusiasm for professional communications to students and the community, encouraging them to become involved.
Cassie is a proud graduate of Western University, with both a degree and a diploma under her belt. Cassie didn’t discover her passion for all things public relations and communications until her undergraduate years, which led her to obtaining a postgraduate diploma in Public Relations from Western Continuing Studies.
Jackie Westelaken is a full-time professor at Fanshawe College and coordinator of the college’s Public Relations – Corporate Communications graduate certificate program. Prior to joining Fanshawe full-time in 2010, she worked in various marketing/communications and training roles in both the finance and non-profit sectors.
Missy is a recent graduate of Fanshawe College’s graphic design program, and although new to the industry, already an award winning designer.
