Marketing Communications Specialist, 3M
Sonya is beginning a new role at 3M as a Marketing Communications Specialist. In the four years prior, she climbed the ranks in the Communications & External Relations department at Lawson Health Research Institute – first as an intern, then an Associate, and finally a Consultant.
Sonya’s experience in the field is broad: public relations, media relations, feature writing, content strategy, event planning and internal communications to name a few. As both a proven strategist and a notorious list-maker, Sonya has helmed multiple corporate projects. Her favourites include the launch of the first-ever London Health Research Day, the largest student research conference of its kind in Ontario, and Lawson’s web redevelopment project.
Sonya has a short but rich history with IABC London. A member since 2009, Sonya is currently the Vice President of the Board. Previously she served as the Director of the 2013 and 2014 Virtuoso Awards Galas, a volunteer in both the Membership and Professional Development portfolios, and the coordinator of the IABC London Award.
Sonya holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Media, Information & Technoculture (M.I.T.) and Film Studies, and a post-graduate diploma in Communications & Public Relations, both from Western University.
Outside of work, you can find Sonya indulging her love of food (she owns more cookbooks than clothes), or watching Netflix with her adopted “jug,” Peggy.
