After all, solid strategic planning is the foundation for excellence in serving our organization’s needs. So, to give us all a leg up, we’ve arranged for the best in the business – literally, winners of the Virtuoso “Best of the Best” awards – to walk us through the key elements of their award-winning communication projects: how they went from strategic planning to execution and measurement. Whether or not you’re planning to submit an award entry, these are the key ingredients to developing a strong communications plan.

Laura Dockstader and Renee Sweeney from St. Joseph’s Health Care London’s communications team will walk you through their 2016 award-winning project, St. Joseph’s 2015-2018 Corporate Strategic Plan, which won in the Communications Management category.

Laurie Lashbrook, President of Lashbrook Marketing & Public Relations, leads an agency that has won over 100 IABC awards and has been recognized with numerous “Best of the Best” awards over the years, including a six-year streak. Laurie will share insight into the elements that go into an award-winning communication tactics.

An accomplished corporate communication and public relations professional with 18+ years’ expertise developing and executing all aspects of communication strategy, Laura is a graduate of Western University as well as Fanshawe College’s postgraduate certificate program for Corporate Communications and Public Relations. In the course of her career with Communication and Public Affairs at St. Joseph’s Health Care London, Laura has had the opportunity to build a wide variety of communication strategies supporting corporate initiatives, stakeholder relations, government affairs and public and media relations. Laura is the recipient of several award recognitions including IABC London Virtuoso Awards, IABC national Silver Leaf Awards and Canada’s Health Care Public Relations Association.

Renee is an award-winning communication consultant who has worked in corporate communications in London for the past 15 years. Currently, Renee supports the mental health programs and corporate initiatives of St. Joseph’s Health Care London, where she has been a member of St. Joseph’s Communications and Public Affairs team since 2008. Renee is a graduate of Fanshawe College’s post graduate Corporate Communications and Public Relations Program (2002). Her talents and creativity have earned her top awards in the industry, including Outstanding HealthCare Communication from the Health Care Public Relations Association of Canada (2015), APEX Award for Publication Excellence (2015), Silver Leaf Award of Excellence, IABC Canada (2015), Virtuoso Award of Excellence from IABC London (2015 and 2016), Virtuoso Best of the Best Winner- Communication Management, IABC London (2016).
