Dear IABC London,
In the past three weeks we have seen profound changes to the way we work, and the way we communicate with each other, and in our organizations. We have all witnessed incredible crisis communications from our members in a variety of organizations, both those whose regular business includes issues management and those organizations and communicators who are rising to the challenge.
The IABC London Board of Directors has made some difficult decisions regarding which events and initiatives to continue, and what we will cancel. This means there will be no further in-person events until the situation is resolved, or until after our usual summer break.
We have decided to continue our Virtuoso awards program, but extend the late entry deadline until May 1, 2020. We will also judge the awards virtually, but ensure the quality of feedback and interaction with judges is uncompromised.
You will be recognized for your work, but we have postponed our Virtuoso Awards Celebration until the Fall. In the meantime, we are examining ways to recognize you virtually.
Our mentors and mentees are making individual decisions to continue with the mentorship program virtually, or delay/postpone. The early success of the program and positive feedback ensure that we will continue in the Fall.
Finally, we will examine ways to engage you online.
In the meantime, the benefits of belonging to an worldwide organization means that IABC international has a number of resources to help you navigate internal and external communications during COVID-19 as well connect with other members:
- Launched a resource page related to the COVID-19 coronavirus.
- Catalyst content focused on navigating a pandemic.
- Conversations on The Hub for IABC members from around the world. This is a great place to connect with others, get advice and share your experiences.
This is a challenging time, but we’ll get through this together. Please continue to take care of yourselves and take care of each other. We look forward to networking with you in person in the near future.
Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
President, IABC London
