We are seeking digital media specialists / content creators to work remotely in collaboration with our storytellers, graphic designers and other members of or digital team to help us get the word out about pandemic-related challenges to Canada’s food supply and food security.
Farmwork to Feed Canada (F2FC) (www.farmworktofeedcanada.ca) is a volunteer effort by Canadian communications, public relations and marketing professionals. We collaborate with the agriculture and agri-business sector and offer farmers, farm groups and the food industry communications expertise and a forum to foster greater public awareness on key issues related Canada’s food supply and food security.
Through this initiative, we are also assisting junior practitioners, who missed out on intern positions as a result of the pandemic, to gain real-world experience, expand their portfolios, and benefit from working with and learning from seasoned professionals who are willing to act as mentors and references.
Farmwork to Feed Canada Goals
1. Grow a national network of communications volunteers who collaborate with the agriculture, agri-business sector and government.
2. Foster greater public awareness, understanding, and support for agriculture and agri-business through interactive channels that provide a forum to inform and engage and educate Canadians on COVID-19 pandemic-related issues.
3. Support stakeholder efforts to increase the numbers of essential, skilled workers on farms and agri-food businesses.
Opportunity – Volunteer Digital Media Specialists
Farmwork to Feed Canada is currently seeking junior, intermediate and senior Digital Media Specialists for our Digital Team made up of talented individuals from across Canada.
Working in collaboration with F2FC design specialists and storytellers, digital media specialists will update our website and plan, craft, and publish content on the F2FC social sites – Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin – to build followership, engagement, and influence.
Digital media specialists will also monitor and respond to comments / messages on social media and produce regular metrics reports using Google Analytics and other tools.
Level of Commitment:
Remote work, home based, 3-4 hours/week.
Participation in a weekly team call required.
Candidates should have excellent communication skills and an understanding of effective techniques to engage audiences on social media channels. Familiarity with SEO and Google Analytics is an asset. Bilingualism is also an asset.
