Jeff Sage – Plugged into the City of London
By Audrey Korol
Posted June 1, 2007
A few years ago, you would have found a long-haired Jeff Sage walking the halls of Fanshawe College as a student in the Corporate Communication and Public Relations program. Now, a more ‘polished’ Jeff can still be found at the college – but in his very own office. Jeff has worked as the Assistant Manager of Marketing and Communications at Fanshawe since 2005 and has played an instrumental role in creating buzz about Fanshawe programming through innovative, student-driven marketing campaigns. “I love everything about my job,” says Jeff. “It’s a really exciting time to be working here, especially since I never see the same day twice.”
Jeff credits much of where he is now to key figures who have mentored him along the way. “I was really lucky to gain invaluable experience right when I finished school. I got the chance to watch and learn from the very best and develop important root-skills.”
Making other connections in the community was also important to Jeff when he first began his career in communications. That’s why he joined IABC in 2002, and he has been an active member ever since. “This was the first network I ever had,” admits Jeff. “I initially saw value in being part of this instant network, and eventually found myself connecting with some of the community’s most talented people.”
Securing these local connections allowed Jeff to launch his most recent venture – the Emerging Leaders Initiative. Along with his wife, Lindsay, the ambitious duo sought to make the voice of their demographic heard in London by establishing a group which discusses important issues facing the next generation of local leaders in business, technology, education, research, political, creative and cultural sectors. “Emerging Leaders was born out of the demographic and for the demographic because whether or not London succeeds as a vibrant city for years to come depends on us,” says Jeff.
While speaking with Jeff, it is clear how passionate he is about his work and about making London a better place for the next generation. We should all keep an eye out for Jeff Sage – he is an inspiring emerging leader who will surely continue to make his mark on the city he truly believes in.
