Chief Communications Officer – 1 position

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Chief Communications Officer is the lead communication strategist responsible for the development and execution of internal and external communication and stakeholder engagement strategy reflective of the hospital’s mission, vision and values and strategic priorities. Additionally, this role will lead the Volunteer Services Program focusing on the volunteer experience and the important role volunteers have in achieving our vision of “Earning Complete Confidence”. This role holds the primary accountability for leading our mandate of Catholic faith-based mission integration.
Working closely with the CEO and organization leaders, you are an exemplary communication practitioner and community relationship-builder with strong intellectual curiosity. As Chief Communications Officer you will ensure design and delivery of key messages through a proactive, effective communication strategy to reach intended audiences through a variety of communication mediums. As a key ambassador to St. Joseph’s community stakeholders, you will ensure effective engagement practices are in place. A key focus is to ensure organizational profile and to management of the corporate brand as a well-recognized, valued and major contributor to the community, and the health care system. You will directly support the work of a Board committee dedicated to supporting our founding Catholic mission of healing.
The successful candidate will hold a Master’s Degree in Communication, Public Affairs, Marketing, Journalism or related field and have 7-10 years of progressive experience in a complex communications environment. Your experience leading teams, proven ability to motivate and mentor along with above-average communication skills, both written and verbal, and your ability to identify and align communication strategy with strategic and corporate priorities are essential.
You are an experienced relationship-builder and spokesperson, with demonstrated ability to influence and navigate with sensitivity and political astuteness, have highly-developed critical thinking skills, including the ability to conceptualize and analyze complex issues with objectivity to develop appropriate proactive and reactive communication strategies and will be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver outcomes in a collaborative environment of patients, residents, staff, physicians, volunteers, Board of Directors, St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation, Lawson Health Research Institute and external partners and stakeholders.
You will be creative and innovative with an ability to synthesize and facilitate the development of ideas in a group, and the ability to tie together ideas/issues across multiple sources in a complex environment to assist corporate strategy development.
You will possess a strong knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA and have experience working within the volunteer community.
You will need to provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chickenpox) and documentation of tuberculous skin testing.
