Reporting to the Coordinator, Corporate Communications and Community
Relations, the Communications Associate facilitates and strengthens LHSC’s profile, reputation and communications objectives through the
delivery of practice expertise in support of the professional activities carried out by the Corporate Communications and Public Relations Department at London Health Sciences Centre.
The Communications Associate supports department leaders and staff in the creation of communications plans and tactics including research, writing, editing and evaluation in accordance with industry standards
and best practices. The position assists with the full range of PR activities in the department including communications planning, development of tactics, special projects and events, and related assignments in media relations, internal communications, publications, and community/public relations. The Communications Associate is also responsible for the supervision of student interns working within the department and providing administrative support when the department’s Administrative Assistant is absent.
Salary Range: $24.555 per hour to $30.694 per hour
Hours of Work: 37.50 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate Degree required, with a Post Graduate Diploma in
Communications or Public Relations preferred
- 1 year related experience in health care setting
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer programs such as
Internet, Email, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) required and web publishing experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability in professional communications and public
relations writing
- Experience in research and evaluation methodologies for communications and public relations activities
- Experience in media relations, VIP visits, special events
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to work in a respectful, cooperative team environment
- Effective time management, organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with similar deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to various work styles and demands including the ability to receive direction from various individuals
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
