Business and Marketing Manager

Location: London
Status: Contract work opportunity; averaging 30 hours per week, 50 weeks per year; operating from the candidate’s own home-based office setting.

The Amabile Choirs of London, Canada is a non-profit, artistic organization that has, for more than 20 years, fostered an environment of quality music education for children, youth and adults in London and the surrounding communities, to achieve personal and collaborative artistic excellence in the area of musical performance.
Position Overview:
The Business and Marketing Manager provides leadership in administration, planning, marketing and communications to the Amabile Choirs of London.
Key Responsibilities in four main areas:
1) Administration
- Attend monthly Board Meetings and executive meetings; prepare and circulate agendas, minutes and supporting materials.
- Oversee and monitor the Amabile website.
- Complete and submit all paperwork for performing and recording music rights.
- Take daily phone calls, voicemails and emails from the public, media and Amabile members and respond to or refer all inquiries appropriately.
2) Marketing, Communications and Media
- Plan, organize, implement, review and supervise all promotional activities, marketing events, media opportunities and public relations.
- Develop and roll-out creative marketing initiatives in order to broaden the target audiences for concerts and fundraising initiatives.
- Plan, organize, write copy for, and implement: concert programs, brochures, posters, newsletters, annual report and audio-visual material; select and work with outside graphic designers and printers as needed and monitor their costs as per budget.
- Pitch feature story ideas and event details to the appropriate media outlets.
3) Fund Development
- Draft specific annual Grant Proposals and one-time grant opportunities by gathering the necessary input, data and financial spreadsheets from applicable Amabile sources; ensure that proposals are submitted as per prescribed deadlines.
- Support specific fund development programs on an annual basis, including direct mail, service group support, special events, Nevada ticket paperwork, and administration related to ticket sales.
4) Event Coordination
- Develop and implement media and advertising opportunities to promote upcoming events and identify and work with community partners and sponsors.
- Work with Choir Managers, event volunteers and committees providing administrative assistance needed to enhance their concert or event.
- Book performance and rehearsal facilities as requested and oversee venue requests.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Experience required:
- Minimum of three years marketing and fund development responsibilities and/or equivalent experience.
- Prefer the contractor to have minimum five years experience in the arts field.
Skills and qualities required:
- Experience writing successful Grant Applications.
- Ability to write effective marketing copy and project manage marketing and public relations campaigns and materials.
- Strong writing and editing skills; exceptional organizational and administrative skills, with high level of attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines and quality expectations.
- Ability to work calmly within a creative and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to seek and find solutions to challenges that may arise within a given project.
- Confident computer skills using Microsoft Suite Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Internet and email.
- Self-starter with ability to work both independently and within a team.
Please note that as a contractor, you will be required to maintain a phone line and mailing address (or P.O. Box) for Amabile Choirs of London in your own home office and supply your own personal computer; Internet access; and email (some specific offices costs may be negotiable). Contractor must have access to a car in order to attend meetings, events and practice nights held in London. Many tasks will be completed during daytime hours, but evening and weekend work is required. The position is expected to average about 30 hours per week but please note that hours will vary week by week and month by month depending on the timing of concerts, special events and grant application deadlines.
